About Jasmine
Welcome to my blog! I am a senior Public Relations major, Writing/Marketing/Sociology minor at Georgia Southern University (yeah, I like them all and can’t make up my mind!). Alike, my interests career-wise vary widely, including sales, market research, business analysis, finance, talent/model management, and non-profit organizations for women and youth. However, I am still trying to find one or two main career focuses before I finally step out into what they call “the real world” and I have been extensively exploring each area! Note that this is a difficult journey for me because I feel as if I am really good at each of my interest areas and I love to learn alot of new things. I’m a really open-minded and flexible individual!
Meanwhile, outside of my world of academics, I have a great love for family, modeling, volleyball, children, music, and giving back to the community. I have one full-time job as a loan officer/sales associate where I’ve been since 2008. My duties include helping people in financial need, reviewing loan applications, processing loans and contracts, and making small sales pitches for pawns, products, and account renewals. I also offer my district manager and state director all of my creative marketing ideas and flyer designs! Then when I’m not in class or working, I love doing photo shoots, working out, hanging out with my small circle of close friends, and I also volunteer regularly with the Girl Scouts here in Statesboro, Ga.
Personally, I am very family-oriented, very optimistic, driven, a great listener, creative and imaginative, quite generous, an extreme goofball, a sucker for romance, and I love staying BUSY –If I am not constantly on-the-go, something is totally wrong! It doesn’t feel right for me to sit down and watch TV or be bored at home. I live for the moments where I get to rush from classes to work, from work to meetings, and then on to whatever!! I guess I enjoy “running around like a chicken with my head cut off” every single day. It does get exhausting. But I don’t call it struggling, I call it juggling (lol)! Even on my off-days, I am still working — brainstorming new ideas for my family’s upcoming non-profit organization or figuring out what new venture I’m going to get myself into after my college career is finally complete.
I spent a majority of my life in Augusta, GA. In grade school, I played violin for six years, was in the Gifted Program for 11 years, danced in the marching band for two years, and played volleyball for one year. I lived with my amazing, loving, hard-working [and over-protective] parents, Charles and Flora, and my younger sister Jade (who now attends Tuskegee University, AL). My mom was born and raised on the tiny yet beautiful island of Palau. My dad is from West Palm Beach, Florida. So Jade and I are uniquely half-Palauan, half-African-American. But I am also excited to mention that I have three step-brothers, two half-sisters, and three half-brothers! Age-wise, I am smack dab in the middle of all my siblings! Lucky me.
